The internet is abuzz with news that Firefly will live on as social media interactive game with Apps.

Via Eurogamer
Firefly Online will launch for iOS and Android devices during the summer of 2014, Fox announced at San Diego Comic Con ...

...It's being developed by Dairy Queen Tycoon developer Spark Plug Games and sci-fi tie-in company QMXi.

You'll be able to build and customise your own ship and, as captain, hire a crew and head on missions. The Online part comes from meeting and trading with other players, which you'll be able to do cross-platform.

Firefly ran for a single solitary season in 2002 before Fox's cancellation axe culled the show in its infancy. Creator Joss Whedon did manage to revive it for one-off movie continuation Serenity, however.

Slayer Soundtrack Sunday ~ Aberdeen

 photo l.jpg

The California "Twee" group Aberdeen had two songs in Episode 13 of Season 7 "The Killer in Me."

From their Biography on LTM Recordings
Californian indiepopsters Aberdeen featured John Girgus (also of Languis) and Beth Arzy (also of Trembling Blue Stars), and released five sparky singles on Sarah Records and The Tremelo Arm User's Club between 1994 and 2004. Their album Homesick & Happy To Be Here appeared in 2002.

. . . Twee is really just a label the music press began slapping on bands like Belle and Sebastian in order to describe, in one word, a band who makes jangly, pastoral, pretty (and mostly UK) pop music. Yet, like with most labels, the term twee is a little unfair to the bands. Obviously there is more going on in Belle and Sebastian's music than hippies cavorting around in the Scottish heather. The same goes for the music of Aberdeen. Yes, it's poppy, fun, and innocent but it's also dark, foreboding, and to a degree... violent.

Cabin in the Woods Maze Coming to Universal Orlando!

 photo TheCabinintheWoods.jpg

This will draw huge crowds at Halloween!

From Hollywood Reporter
In an example of life imitating art that was, itself, imitating art, both the cabin and the subterranean base unleashing B-movie hell on its inhabitants are going to be recreated as part of Universal Orlando's annual Halloween Horror Nights celebration this fall. But don't worry: Visitors to this particular cabin will be on the side of the guys in charge of the whole shebang.

According to reports, The Cabin in The Woods attraction will include a storyline co-written by Goddard in which the larger mythology and background of the organization based underneath the cabin will be revealed, via Lost-like induction films to new recruits (i.e., the attraction's visitors). "My wish for Cabin was always that it would live on outside the film, that people would take that ball and run with it," the writer told Zap2It.com, "and I can't imagine a better fit for what we were trying to do with the movie than make a maze out of it."

. . . The Cabin maze will run select nights from Sept. 20 through Nov. 2 as part of Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights 23 event.

From Moviefone
The storyline of the attraction, to be written by Goddard, will expand the mythology of the mysterious organization behind the cabin's undertakings, and will feature videos inducting new recruits -- the visitors -- into its ranks. Universal officials have said that the attraction will keep the spirit of "Cabin"'s surprise cameos alive by featuring not only creatures from the film, but other classic monsters from the Universal fold.

Slayer Soundtrack Sunday ~ Alison Krauss

 photo Alison_Krauss5.jpg

Bluegrass singer Alison Krauss of Union Station sang two songs in different Buffy episodes.

"It Doesn't Matter" appears in the opening episode of Season Two, "When She was Bad" as Buffy's mother drives her to school. Buffy is acting badly towards everyone, but maybe it's because the Master is haunting her dreams.

"That Kind of Love" was included in the episode "Entropy" in Season 6. As the title implies, things "fall apart" once again for Xander and Anya, as well as Buffy and Spike when a hidden camera reveals Spike and Anya doing the hanky panky. But Willow and Tara get back together as this song plays.

Who would sell their soul for love?
Or waste one tear on compromise
Should be easy enough
To know a heartache in disguise
But the heart rules the mind
And the going gets rough
Pride takes the fall
When you find that kind of love

I can't help feeling like a fool
Since I lost that place inside
Where my heart knew its way
And my soul was ever wise
Once innocence was lost
There was not faith enough
Still my heart held on
When it found that kind of love

 photo Entropy-willow-and-tara-4086390-1280-800.jpg

Though beauty is rare enough
Still we trust
Somehow we'll find it there
With no guarantee
It seems to me
At least it should be fair

But if it's only tears and pain
Isn't it still worth the cost
Like some sweet saving grace
Or a river we must cross
If we don't understand
What this life is made of
We learn the truth
When we find that kind of love
Cause when innocence is lost
There is not faith enough
We learn the truth
When we find that kind of love

"That Kind of Love" appears on Radio Sunnydale UK and "It Doesn't Matter" appears on Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Album (1999 Television Series)
